Filling a Nursing Need

This fall, Jacksonville University becomes the first campus in Florida, and only the sixth in the nation, to offer a master’s degree in family nurse practitioning with a subspecialty in emergency nurse practitioning.

Reports by the Florida Hospital Association, Centers for Disease Control and other organizations have highlighted an acute shortage of qualified nurses, with pressing staffing problems in emergency care facilities. JU’s program is designed to make its nursing graduates more marketable to hospitals.
